6,598 Entrants Drawn At The WSOP Main Event

There were really a lot of people, participating in the World Series of Poker this year – almost 6,600. The largest main event was in 2006 when the players were 8,773. That year the winner in the Main Event was Jamie Gold and the prize that he earned was twelve million.

For the winner at this year’s Main Event there is a prize of $8,527,982. There will be a prize for the top 666 players. For those who finish in the money, they will take at least $19,227.

One of the surprises of the Main Event was Doyle Brunson, a 78-year-old poker player who is an icon in this game. He had announced that he would not play this year, but took part on the third opening day of this event.

The Main Event started on Monday, and although it was not the biggest starting field that the WSOP has seen so far, it kept a lot of fans and participants at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.
