Pai Gow Poker is an interesting and popular type of poker which is played by many people around the world. The game comes from an ancient Chinese game which was called Pai Gow which means make nine in Chinese. Pai Gow was played with dominoes and a dice, and the goal of each player was to get as many combinations close to nine as possible. It became very popular when it was brought to North America in 1987 and it was made available in Las Vegas casinos.
The rules of Pai Gow Poker are a little complicated because the game is a combination of a domino and poker game. The hand ranking is the same as in a game of regular poker with the exception that the best hand in the game is five aces. The game can be played by up to 7 people and each of them is being dealt 7 cards out of a 52-card deck. The players see their cards and need to divide them into two hands – a 2-card and 5-card hand.
