A

ACTION - The money a player has wagered throughout a playing session.
ACTIVE PLAYER - A player that is in the pot.
ADD-ON - The option to buy more chips during a game of Poker.
AGGREGATE WINNINGS - The amount that is won till a certain moment of a game.
ALL-IN - In a cardroom poker, to bet all your chips.
ANTE - In card games, this is a bet that is required to begin a hand. This is the initial bet you have to make before you receive your cards.
ARM - A term used in the game of craps to denote a player who is so skilled at throwing the dice that they are able to alter the conventional odds of the game.
B

BANKER - In card games, this is the dealer. In some card games each and every player may be a dealer in a given turn.
BANKROLL - All the money that are available for a player to bet.
BANNED - Someone who is not allowed to enter a particular casino.
BARRED - Someone who is not allowed to enter a particular casino.
BEEF - A dispute, between a player and a bookmaker or a casino dealer, over the outcome of a bet.
BEGINNER'S LUCK - In gambling, new players are usually on a winning streak when they start playing. This period is called Beginner's Luck.
BET - A stake/wager.
BETTING LIMITS - In table games, there are minumum and maximum amounts of money that players may wager on one bet.
BLIND BET - In poker, when a player places a bet without seeing his cards.
BLINDS - In Hold'em poker, a bet that certain poker players are required to make because of their betting positions.
BLUFF - In poker, when a player raises with a weak hand hoping to drive players with stronger hands out.
BOARD - In poker, the cards that are dealt with face-up in the centre of the table.
BOAT - Full house.
BONUS - Money that could be given to players for signing up, depositing or for various other reasons.
BRICK - In poker, a card that appears not to help a poker hand.
BUCK - $100
BUG - A joker.
BUMP - A raise of the bet.
BURN CARDS - In card games, cards that are removed from the top of the deck, temporarily removed from the game, and won't be dealt.
BUST - In blackjack, if a player goes over 21, he is busted and loses.
BUY IN - The amount of money that is used to purchase chips before entering a table game.

CALL - In poker, when a player calls, he matches the current bet on the table.
CARD RIFFLING - To shuffle playing cards by holding part of a deck in each hand and raising up the edges before releasing them to fall alternately in one stack.
CARD SHARP - A person who is an expert at cards.
CARDS SHUFFLING - Mixing of the play cards by using various techniques.
CAROUSEL - A circle of slot machines with a money changer in the centre of the circle.
CARPET JOINT - A luxury casino.
CASE MONEY - Emergency gambling money.
CASINO ADVANTAGE - The edge that the casino has over the players.
CASINO RATE - Hotels may offer reduced prices of the rooms to good players. Sometimes good players may stay at the hotels for free.
CHASE - When a player tries to recover his losses by placing another bet.
CHASING - When a player tries to recover his losses by placing another bet.
CHECK - In poker, when a player can say "check", he may continue staying in the game without placing more bets.
CHIP TRAY - A tray which is located in front of the dealer and that is where he keeps his stock of chips.
CHIPS - Round plastic disks that are used on casino gaming tables instead of cash.
COAT-TAIL - To place the same bet as someone who is currently winning.
COLD - A player who is on a losing streak or a slot machine that is not paying out.
COLOUR CARDS - The Jack, Queen and King of any suit of cards.
COLOUR UP - When a player exchanges smaller denomination chips for larger.
COMPS - Complementary gifts that are given by the casino for free in order to entice players to gamble. Such gifts may be free rooms, beverage, food and etc.
CRACK THE NUT - To win money to cover your losses and generating good profit.
CROSSROADER - A cheater.
CROUPIER - French word. It means dealer and it is used in baccarat and roulette.
CUT - When the dealer divides a deck of cards into 2 parts and inverts them.
CUT CARD - A card of different colour, red or black, that is used to cut a deck of cards.
D

DEAL - To give out cards.
DEPOSIT - A payment made to online casinos or poker rooms using a wide variety of payment methods like credit/debit cards, e-wallets, wire transfer and etc.
DEUCE - 2.
DICE - Two identical die-s.
DIE - A cube with 6 sides that has numbers on each side, from 1 to 6.
DISCARD TRAY - A tray, situated on the right side of the dealer that holds cards which have already been played or discarded.
DOUBLE DOWN - When you double down you are allowed to double your bet after receiving your first two cards but then you are allowed to receive one more card only.
DOUBLE OR NOTHING - A bet that pays off the amount that has been wagered.
DOUBLE UP - To double the amount of a previously lost bet, hoping that you will win and have the lost money back plus profit.
DRAW - In poker, to receive more cards hoping that they will improve your hand. In draw poker, it means the second round of card which are dealt.
DRAW BUTTON - In video poker, a button with which players may draw new cards, up to 5.
DROP - The amount of money which is lost in a game.
DROP BOX - Repository for cash, chips or markers.

EDGE - An advantage over one or more opponents.
EVEN MONEY - A bet with 1:1 odds.
EXPECTED WIN RATE - In slots, the percent that you may expect to have back over the course of time out of the money placed in the slot machine.
F

FACE CARDS - The Jack, Queen and King of any suit of cards.
FILL - In poker, to draw a card that helps you make a five-card hand.
FILL UP - In poker, to complete a full house.
FIRING - When a players bets a lot.
FIRST BASE - In blackjack, the position on the far left of the dealer is called first base. This is the first position that the dealer deals with.
FISH - A player who is losing money.
FISHING - In poker, when a player is staying on the table for too long and is wating for a card or two that will make him a winner hand.
FLAT BETTING - To bet the same amount of money on each wager.
FLAT TOP - A slot machine with fixed jackpot.
FLOP - In hold'em and omaha, the first three cards that are dealt face-up in the centre of the table.
FOLD - In poker, when a player drops out of the hand.
FOUR OF A KIND - Four cards of the same rank.
FULL HOUSE - In poker, a hand with a pair and three of a kind.

GROSS WINNINGS - The total winnings (including the bets and the profit).
H

HAND - The cards that a player holds.
HARD HAND - In blackjack, a hand that doesn't contain an Ace.
HIGH POKER - Standard poker (high hands win).
HIGH ROLLER - A player who places big bets.
HIT - In blackjack, to take one more card. The card that is taken is also called a hit.
HOLD YOUR OWN - To end up even, neither winning nor losing.
HOLE CARD - In blackjack, this is the facedown card that the dealer gets.
HONEYMOON PERIOD - In gambling, new players are usually on a winning streak when they start playing. This period is called Honeymoon Period.
HOT - A player that is on a winning streak or a slot machine that is paying out.
HOUSE - A casino.
HOUSE EDGE - The advantage that the casino has over the players.

INSIDE BET - In roulette, a bet placed on a number or a combination of numbers.
INSURANCE - In blackjack, it is offered when the dealer has an Ace. Insurance bet means that you are betting that the dealer has Blackjack.
J

JACKPOT - A big win.
JOKER - A wild card.
JUICE - Commission that is taken by the casino.
K

KICKER - In poker, a high card that doesn't help to a flush or a straight in a draw poker game.
L

LADDERMAN - An employee of the casino who is overseeing the game of baccarat.
LAYOUT - The covering of a gaming table.
LOAD UP - To place the maximum amount of bet that a slot machine or a video game will allow.
LOBBY - In casino software, the page that allows you to choose a game, enter the cashier, change settings, see all current news, promotions and bonuses, and etc.
LOOSE - A slot machine that is paying out.
LOW POKER - A type of poker where the hand with the lowest poker value wins.
M

MARKER - A check which can be written at the gaming tables. Only players that have established credit with the casino may write such checks.
MARTINGALE -

MATCH PLAY - A competition system that is used in tournaments, where players play series of games and accumulate points for each game they win. The player who reaches the required number of points first wins the game.
MAXIMUM BET - The maximum amout of money you are allowed to bet.
MECHANIC - A dealer who cheats.
MINI-BACCARAT - A scaled-down version of baccarat that follows the same rules as baccarat but is played with fewer players and dealers.
MINI-ROULETTE - A miniature version of European Roulette with 13 numbers only.
MONEY PUT IN ACTION - The overall amount of bets that a player has placed.
N

NATURAL - In blackjack, a two card hand with 21 points. In baccarat, a two card hand with total value of 8 or 9, called natural 8 or natural 9 respectively.
NEGATIVE EXPECTATION - The amount of money you expect to lose.
NET WINNINGS - The total payout minus your stake.
NON-NEGOTIABLE CHIPS - Promotional casino chips that cannot be cashed out.
NUMBER POOL - The numbers from which you select those that you want to play.
NUT - A fixed amount that a player decides to win for a day.
O

ODDS - Ratio of probabilities.
OPEN - In poker, the player who places a bet first.
OUTSIDE BET - In roulette, a bet on groups of numbers as well as Even/ Odd and Black/Red.
OVERLAY - A good bet where the gambler has an edge over the casino.
P

PAINT - A face card - Jack, Queen or King.
PAIR - Two cards that have one and the same rank.
PASS - To fold, not to bet.
PAT - In draw poker, a hand that doesn't need to draw cards.
PAT - In blackjack, a hand of seventeen or more.
PAY CYCLE - The number of plays for a machine to go through all winning and non-winning combinations possible.
PAYLINE - On slot machines, the line on which each reel's symbols have to line up.
PAYOFF - The payback a player receives for his wager.
PAYOUT PERCENTAGE - In video/slot machines, the percent of each dollar that the machine returns to the player.
PAYOUT TABLE - A sign on the video poker or slot machine that indicates how much you will get for each winning combination you complete.
PIGEON - An unsophisticated gambler.
PIT - A place in the casino where a group of table games are arranged.
PIT BOSS - A person who supervises the pit area in a casino. Usually, he supervises more than one table and is giving comps to good players, settles disputes and is watching for players who try cheating.
POCKET CARDS - In poker, cards which are dealt face down.
POINT - In craps, the point is established on the number of the value of the rolled dice on the come-out roll.
POT - In a poker game, it is the amount of money that accumulates in the middle of the table and it goes to the winner of the hand.
PRESS A BET - Adding the winnings to the original bet and wagering them together.
PRESSING - Adding the winnings to the original bet and wagering them together.
PROBABILITY - In mathematics, calculation that determines the likelihood of a certain event to happen.
PROGRESSIVE - A slot machine whose jackpot increases with every bet that is placed. When the progressive jackpot hits, it is reset to its starting number and start accumulating again.
PUSH - A tie hand, when neither the player nor the dealer/casino wins.
Q

QUADS - In poker, four of a kind (e.g. four aces).
QUALIFIER - In poker, a minimum rank for a hand to take part in the pot.
R

RACK - A container for carrying casino chips.
RAKE - In poker, a fee that the casino takes from the pot. It may be either a flat fee or a certain percent (5% - 10%).
RANK - In poker, the strenght of a card or a hand.
RFB - Room, Food and Beverage.
RIFFLE - To shuffle playing cards by holding part of a deck in each hand and raising up the edges before releasing them to fall alternately in one stack.
RIVER - In poker, the fifth card which is dealt in a hand of Texas Hold'em.
RVP - Recreational Vehicle Parking.

SCARED MONEY - Money that one is affraid to lose or cannot afford to lose.
SESSION - Period of play.
SHARK - A good player.
SHARP - A skilled player.
SHILL - People, working for the casino, who play at the tables just to fill the empty seats.
SHINER - A tiny mirror used by cheaters in order to view unexposed cards.
SHOWDOWN - In poker, the moment when all the player who are still in the game need to show their cards.
SHUFFLING - Mixing of the play cards by using various techniques.
SKIN GAME - In Poker, a poker game with 2+ collusion cheaters.
SOFT HAND - In blackjack, a hand with an ace which is counted as 11.
STACK - A stack of chips.
STIFF HAND - In blackjack, a hand which may bust if hit.
SUIT - One of the types of cards - Spades, Hearts, Diamonds or Clubs.

TABLE HOLD - The amount that a given table has gained from the players.
TAP OUT - To lose your bankroll and stop playing.
THREE OF A KIND - Three cards of the same rank.
TOURNAMENT - A competition between two or more players over a certain period of time.
TRONC - A box where the players may put tips for the dealers.

UNDERLAY - An unfavourable bet.
W

WAGER - A bet.
WHALE - A player who places very large bets - thousands of dollars and more.
WILD CARD - A card that may be used as any other card to complete the hand of the player.
