Last year was not really good for William Hill
There were some unfortunate match and racing results which did not have a good influence over William Hill shares. This is the main reason why bookmakers had such a weak recent performance.
It was really difficult for William Hill investors to take it easy when they had to send the bookmaker’s shares with almost five percent down, and all that was because of the bad end that the group had in the passed 2014.
So when the bookmaker received the results he had to update his information and change the figures before they were released on Monday morning.
It was on Tuesday when the company officially published the statement where it could be seen that the operating profit for the past three months of the last year was about seven percent down. Football results from Christmas as well as horse racing results could not help, but on the opposite, so in the end the online revenue was down with six percent and the retail profit – with thirteen percent.
Even the new year did not start well at all. All the favorites in the football matches for the Premier League were winning with the only exception of Manchester City that could not win the game with Arsenal.
But the expectations for the end of this year are much better. Although the recent performance of William Hill shares has not been so good, because they have fallen with 4.6% to 359.2p, the net revenue is expected to rise with eight percent, and the operating profit – with 11 %.
So as Henderson said, no matter that the beginning of the year was difficult for the group, they are still in a good position, ready to meet the end of the year with much better results.
