More Women Entering the WSOP Main Event

A long, long time ago poker and gambling used to be a man's thing. But not any more.

The World Series of Poker Main Event is a proof that more and more women are interested in poker. More girls than ever before played at this year's World Series.

The World Series of Poker Main Event is a proof that more and more women are interested in poker. More girls than ever before played at this year's World Series. The number of female players at the Main Event jumped the incredible 41 percent, from 211 women playing to 298 players. 2013 the 298 women playing represent 4.7 percent of the field. That’s a rise - past year women represented just 3.2 percent of the field. The increased female presence is really noticeable. If you want to find a female poker player at the tables, all  you need to do is just turn your head and there they are, at the tables. And those women not only want to play, they want to win.

One of the best is Loni Harwood. She won $874,698 at the World Series of Poker this year. You also need to remember a few other girls: Vanessa Selbst, Vanessa Rousso, Christina Renz, Elisabeth Hille, Pam Downing and Gaelle Baumann.
