Offer Rejected - Betfair Takeover Collapses

This Monday the potential £1 billion takeover of Betfair collapsed, because the offer was rejected. The talks between Betfair and a consortium, which is led by CVC Capital Partners, ended on Monday at 5 pm after a 24-hour extension. Betfairs chairman Gerald Corbett said that a £985m cash offer is too low. Corbett and the board decided that none of the proposals represented adequate value.
