It is believed that the history of texas hold’em poker began in the beginning of the 20th century in Texas. Later on, in 1967, the game was introduced in Las Vegas by a group of poker players from Texas. Back then, the game was called hold’em instead of texas hold'em. Texas holdem poker is played with 52 cards and from 2 to 11 players can participate in the game, however, it is usually played by less people – around 8-9. The two players on the left of the dealer are called blinds – the first one is small blind and the second one is called big blind. The player on the small blind is obliged to bet a predetermined amount and the big blind player must bet double the amount of the small blind. Each player after that need to make a decision whether to call the big blind, to fold or to raise the bet. Once, all of the players have made their decisions, the dealer deals 3 cards face-up on the table and each player, one by one, needs to decide whether to check, raise, fold or call. After that round, there are two more betting rounds in which the dealer deals one more face-up card each. Then comes the moment when every texas hold’em poker player shows his cards to the others and whoever has got the strongest hand, according to poker hand rankings, wins the round and all the money in the pot.
