The Online Sports Betting Monopoly in Hungary Goes to an End

It was during the previous week, when the government in Hungary began the online sports betting and gambling in general discussions. Several representatives of the official authorities in the country mentioned the chaos due to regularity in gambling legislation. According to these Hungarian government workers the country needs a decent pack of amendments that would finally put an end to the sports betting and online betting website monopoly.

It seems that the struggles made in Hungarian government as to the sports betting industry will eventually end up with success. Yesterday, Hungary made a proposal for a legislation procedure that would be performed only in Szerencsejáték Zrt region. Here is where all the online operators might ask a license from. The procedure is already suggested as a pack of actions and documents. The entire legal deed is sent to European Commission, where the European experts are supposed to see if the Hungarian act refers to the main rules in principles from the Gambling Act. It was just about a matter of time for Hungary to get rid of the unpleasant monopoly situation in the online betting sphere. Probably, it will take less than few months for European Commission to officially announce that Hungarian act is indeed the better approach into betting legislation. We will keep watching at close the topic.
