Underwater Poker Tournament to Raise Funds for Charity

The 46-year-old diving instructor from Sheffield John Stanley lost his wife Gina Stanley earlier this year. Gina died from cancer in May. Now John Stanley is trying to raise money for a charity, which is very close to his heart – the Macmillan Cancer Support. John has lost not only his beloved wife to cancer, but also his father, aunt and grandfather.

John Stanley is organizing an underwater poker tournament at Ponds Forge on August 10th, Saturday.

The special underwater poker tournament is organised in association with Diveworld and Sheffield’s Napoleon’s Casino. This special event is bringing together two of John’s biggest passions – poker and diving. And all this in memory to the people he loved.

Players with scuba diving equipment will sit on the bottom of the pool and play poker, using laminated playing cards for the game.
